Unbelievably, St. Patrick’s Day is almost here again. My God, it seems like it was just Christmas. Oh well, time marches on.

Speaking of “marches,” now that it will be March in a few days, I know that people will be looking for free vintage St. Patrick’s Day clip art to do their craft and scrapbooking projects, and handmade cards. For some reason, much of the St. Patrick’s Day clipart is silly. I guess that’s because the holiday itself is a bit whimsical. That’s odd, given that St. Patrick’s Day is actually an ancient religious holiday that’s based on a supposedly real St. Patrick driving the snakes from Ireland. How we got from snakes to cartoon leprechauns and green beer images, I’m not sure. But nowadays much of the St. Patricks Day clip art that’s available is of that ilk. You can usually only find images of Saint Patrick in vintage clip art, which was created back in the days when the holiday was taken more literally.
